—— { ♢♢♢♦♦ } With a high pitched death-wail, the park-dwelling anomaly twisted toward the sky and burst into a great gust of expanding wind. The impact was so staggering that it easily ripped several trees clean away from their roots and sent them crashing across the earth. With no sturdy shelter to be taken, Homura lifted her shield and squinted as the debris of the wrecked playground tossed around her, doing all she could to ward off the slayed being’s strong, energetic pull.
Just when it seemed as though it would never end, the wind around the area suddenly stilled. Like dead weight, everything that once spiraled around her in the supernatural gale fell to the earth and then vanished before it could even make a sound.
Homura waited a few moments before slowly lowering her shield and walking into the center of what was now an empty plot of land quickly accumulating a fresh expanse of green grass.
The magical girl paused to watch the little green blades sprout up around her feet with a disquisitive look. This was no new result of hyperphysical destruction, but it certainly was…unusual.
Just a couple of days ago, she had witnessed a skyscraper burst from the street in place of a restaurant she used to frequent shortly after its destruction during a similar ‘hunt’. To her surprise, hundreds of people had passed the building on the street the next morning without so much as batting an eye. Some had even gone inside as if it had been their place of work all along.
It was because of occurrences such as this that Homura had to admit, the way time could seamlessly alter things around itself was one of the most frightening things she knew…
The lavender puella paused in her unhurried stride across the lush field, suddenly remembered something. A warm, light wind swept her hair across her shoulders and stirred the still-emerging plant life around her.
Homura suspected that somewhere within the tall greenery was her…companion.
Swallowing her bitter thoughts, she forced her focus to shift back to the current situation.
“Nothing…again. No grief seed. Just another alteration.” She announced to the open space. The reluctance to call out to him was barely concealed in her voice.
